She was baptized and named Clotilda Mary Dekat in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Flush, KS, a special place for her since her family helped build the church.
On Feb. 11, 1922 at the age of 17, Clotilda Mary (Sr. Sebastian) and her younger sister, Helena Margaret (Sr. Fabian) age 15, came to Mount Saint Scholastica Convent, Atchison, KS for their religious studies.
She and her sister Helena were given their father's names for their names in religion.
They made their first vows Aug. 13, 1923 and final vows Aug. 15, 1926. Both sisters were active in teaching in the elementary schools in Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa.
Sister Sebastian returned to the Mount in Atchison, KS for retirement.
She passed away at age 78 on Independence Day, July 4, 1983.
