Alene will be fondly remembered for her winning bridge hands; chicken pileau and church dinners; and signature chicken and yellow rice. She will be sadly missed by "George's Girls" at the Wednesday night dinners.
Survivors include daughters: Beverley (Joe) Capo, Inverness; Karen (Roy) Sulton, Sarasota; Sandra (Rhodes) Boynton, Yankeetown; Pam Schrek, Inverness; Sisters: Ernestine Weeks, Gainesville; Maxine (Bill) Frazer, West Point, GA; sister in law Laura Wear and brother in law Billy Porter of Inverness; grandchildren: Philip, Andy, David, Cheryl, Matthew, Katherine, Angela, Eric, Christopher; 10 great-grandchildren; many special nieces, nephews, and cousins; loving furry companion, Patch, and friends. All will never forget her Fourth of July and Easter lawn parties, and Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
The Service of Remembrance for Alene will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Inverness. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Lecanto, Florida. Family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Inverness First Baptist Church Children's Ministry. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.HooperFuneralHome.com.
