William G. Pilcher Sr., 72, died Sunday night at HCA Putnam Community Hospital following a brief illness.
A native of Americus, Ga., he lived in Crescent City since 1938, coming from Americus. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Crescent City, a charter member of the Crescent City Lions Club, a member of Bass Capital Shrine Club. He was former owner of Pilcher Chevrolet in Crescent City and was owner of Bill Pilcher Ferneries.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Long Pilcher of Crescent City; two sons, William G. Pilcher Jr. and Tom Ronald Pilcher, both of Crescent City; two daughters, Marsh Hutchens of Crescent City and Martha Kathleen Fortner of Hastings; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Rush, Mrs. Bobbie Holaway and Mrs. Lucy Gardner, all of Americus, Ga.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clayton Frank and Sons Funeral Home in Crescent City with the Rev. David Kitchens officiating. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery with Masonic services by Lake Lodge No. 72 F&AM. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 31 Mar 1992.)
