Obituary - "Funeral services for Horace R. Akers, 64, who died in a Paris hospital Saturday morning following an
emergency operation were conducted Tuesday morning by the Rev. Albert Melton at the Crooked Creek
Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Akers is survived by his wife and four children, Richard
of Cleveland, Ohio, Wendell of U.S. Army, Mrs. Ocie Griffin of Corinth, Miss., and Mrs. Ora (Ola) Collier
of Faxon; his mother, Mrs. Mittie (Mentia) Akers, two brothers, Tom Akers of Faxon and Paul Akers of
Memphis; three sisters, Mesdames Tom Stockdale, Jesse Farmer and Lillie V. Troller of Faxon." The
