I am so thankful and grateful to my grandmother Fannie, who was so willing to reminience about her childhood. Otherwise, we would likely know very little about her father Albert, her mother Doxie and their families. Fannie actually sat with a tape recorder late into the night, recording stories of her childhood for me. How wonderful that she was willing to do this for us all. The following is the priceless family history she leaves us.

Albert was a farmer, and also used a horse and wagon to bring supplies to the coal camps or mines in and around Middlesboro, KY. Albert's daughter recalled how her and her sisters would enjoy watching for their father to return from work so they could hop in the back of the wagon for the rest of the ride home.
Fannie also remembered that Albert loved to sing. He had red hair, his beard being especially red.
Albert was married 4 times. 1st wife was Catherine, married in 1892, 2nd Martha Miracle, 3rd Doxie Miracle and last to Lina Buzzell.
Albert's first wife Catherine likely died between the years of 1900 and 1905. I have found no solid evidence to show otherwise.
Albert and and his 2nd wife Martha had a son James Edgar Parks born 1906. Martha must have divorced Albert soon after they were married. You can find Martha and her son James Parks and her other children Jesse,Benjamin,Rachel and Bertha Green on the 1910 Bell County Census. I think Martha's 1st husband died about 1905.

This would have made Alberts 2nd wife Martha and 3rd wife Doxie, 1st cousins. Martha and Doxie's fathers were brothers.

Albert was married the longest to his third wife Doxie Miracle. They were married about 1907 until Doxie's death about 1925.

The photo of Albert was given to me by my grandmother Fannie, Albert's daughter. In the original photo, Albert is sitting with his brothers. Fannie knew which brother in the photo was her father Albert, however she could not put a name to the faces of his brothers. This would lead me to believe that Fannie did not see much if any of most of her Uncles on the Parks side growing up.

According to the 1900 Federal Census, Albert (Aug 1874) was living in Civil District 5, Claiborne County, Tennessee with his wife named Catherine (Oct 1873) with children Hattie J. (June 1893), Lizzie (Oct 1895), Robt (July 1898) and a Ellen Fugate (March 1883) . Ellen was listed as sister and I do believe she was Catherines sister. Albert was a farmer and all were born in Tennessee. They were married for 8 years and all three of these children were theirs. They live next door to Albert's brother Martin and his family.

According to the 1910 Federal Census, Albert (1873) was living in Bell County, Kentucky with his wife Doxie (age 20- Kentucky) and children Robert (age 13-Kentucky), Willie (age 8-Kentucky) and Charles (0-Kentucky) where he was a Farmer. It states it was his 3rd marriage, her first and they were married for 3 years.

According to the 1920 Federal Census, Albert (age 46) was living in Sugar Run, Bell County, Kentucky with his wife Doxie (age 32) and children Robert (age 21), William (age 11), Arthur (age 9), Hammie (age 2 and 3/12) and Katherine (age 5 months) where Albert was a farmer.

After Doxie died, Albert's daughter Fannie said the children went to live with different friends and family. Albert always made sure though to ask them if they were being treated right.

Albert then married for the 4th time and would have a son.

Fannie recalls that her father was starting to become ill sometime prior to his death. She did not know with what.
He was found one morning, laying in the woods dead. It was a cold January and perhaps he fell, hit his head and succumbed to the cold.
Death certificate reads, Man found dead, cause unknown. I've been told Albert was a fun loving "rebel-rouser". I know he had been known to drink a bit...did this contribute to his death?

Where are Albert and Doxie buried? I regret that I never asked Fannie where her parents are buried. I know that they are buried together in unmarked graves.

Albert's death certificate reads "Colmar Creek Cemetery" Most information available leans to the fact that Turner Church Cemetery in Colmar is likely "Colmar Creek Cemetery" where Albert is buried. Turner is considered to have always been the main cemetery for Colmar. Just across the road is also "Clear Creek" which could have very easily have been called Colmar Creek by some folks. With the creek nearby and several of Albert's decendants buried there, I believe the evidence points to Turner Cemetery as likely Albert's final resting place.
