Anna Mary Mode Ehrengart, is my husband's grand aunt. Anna was the youngest of 7 children born to my husband's gg-grandparents, Valentine Mode (1829-1870) and Katherine Schilche Mode (1826-1900) and was the sister to my husband's g-grandmother, Dennine Mode Singleton (1861-1923).

Anna married Theodore Ehrengart about 1888 in Illinois. However, Theodore died 10 years later in the St. Louis Insane Asylum in St. Louis, Missouri, and even though it is stated he is buried in the Okawville Cemetery, in Illinois, we have not been able to locate his burial plot.

It is not believed they had any children, but there are conflicting census reports -- in the 1900 census "Annie", a widow, states that she is the mother of ONE child, but child not living. In the 1910 census, "Annie Ehrengart", widow, states that she is the mother of 5 children - all living.

Anna worked as a domestic all of her life; first as a housekeeper in St. Louis for the John Lindsey family in St. Louis, then working with her sister, Dennie Singleton as a housekeeper in the Mission in St. Louis, Missouri, and finally as a maid for the Augustus Brigham family in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Anna died at the age of 91 in Colorado Springs, Colorado and is buried there at the Evergreen Cemetery.

My husband would love to communicate with any descendants of Anna's siblings or family and especially to locate a picture of this hard-working woman.
