Sidney Corp, farmer, is located on section 29, Zumbro, where he settled in 1860, and now has three hundred and eighty acres. He is a native of England, born February 15, 1831, in Wanstrow, Somersetshire and baptised 6 Mar 1831 at Blessed Virgin Mary Church. His mother is Jane Corp. His early years were passed on a farm and in attendance at a rate school. In 1850 he crossed the Atlantic and settled at Brecksville, Ohio, where he learned the carpenter's trade, and continued at that occupation till he came here. In 1854 he went to Melrose, Illinois, from whence he removed to Minnesota. As soon as he was settled here he set about improving his land and setting out trees. He is now one of our model farmers, and was the first to ship fruit from this section. September 25, 1853, he married Elizabeth, sister of James Arnold, also buried at Farm Hill cem. Both are among the earliest admitted to the Wesleyan Methodist church here. In politics Mr. Corp is independent of parties. Their only child, Annie, born June 4, 1854, is now the wife of Harry L. Rolph and resides near her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Rolph have two daughters. (from History of Wabasha Co., MN page 1166).
