Funeral services for Mathias Archer, 81, farmer and ranchman, who died at his home in Menlow at 6:30 p.m. Monday were held from the West Catholic Church at 3 p.m. Tuesday, interment at the Tours cemetery, Rev. Wm. Morris of Waxahachie officiating.
Mr. Archer, born at West Point, Iowa, had been a resident of the Menlow community for the past 47 years. For many years he and his brother, Ed Archer, were in the gin business at that place. For the past four years he had been in ill health, but he had only been seriously ill for two days before his death. He had never been married, and had been a life-long member of the Catholic church.
Survivors are one brother, W.T. Archer, Ardmore, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. N.P. Bryson, Oglesby, Mrs. Flora Woodall, West, and Mrs. Mary Taylor, Abbott.
