LARGEST MONUMENT IN PLACE.
Jacob Brown Puts 24-Ton Stone on Lot.
The Abilene Monument Co., under the management of Jay and Harry Harding has just completed placing on the cemetery lot of Jacob Brown the largest monument in Abilene cemetery. It is of Barre, Vt., gray granite and in three pieces, each weighing eight tons. The pieces were taken to the cemetery on heavy trucks drawn by a traction engine. Two of the sections lie end to end across the full length of the lot, 24 feet, the other forms the monument proper. The horizontal pieces have names paneled in the stone opposite the graves. It is an imposing memorial.
