Sikeston, MO- Helen C. Matthews, 74, died March 27, 2007, after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 3, 1933, in Charleston, to the late Ernest and Mae Cox Maynard, she was a housewife and homemaker. A member of Miner Baptist Church, she was active in many church functions.
On Dec. 22, 1951, in Savannah, GA, she married Donald F. Matthews who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Terri Matthews and Jim and Debbie Matthews; one daughter and son-in-law, Lea Ann and Ross Brummett; one sister and brother-in-law, Lois Ann and Jerry Masterson; 10 grandchildren, Ryan and Katie Matthews, Jennie and Ryan Beltz, Molly and Will Brummett, Wendi and Russell Limbaugh, Hallie and Eric Bronner, Amy and Lyle Malloy; Clay and Annie Matthews and Mary Matthews; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher Ross Limbaugh, Benn Caleb Malloy, Bylar Cates Malloy and Jude Mitchell Bronner.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Murray Maynard; one sister, Marge Sitzes; and one grandson, Ben Matthews.
Visitation was at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Services were conducted at Miner Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating.
Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Clay Matthews, Eric Bronner, Lyle Malloy, Russell Limbaugh, Ryan Beltz, Ryan Matthews and Will Brummett.
