BIO: (provided by Lee Payne Johnson on 6/22/2006)
Jacob William Busard came as a member of a large family from Pennsylvania. They all continued on to the far west. Jacob was a preacher in his early days. Some of his prepared sermons are in the papers kept by a loving daughter-in-law. She reports them to be quite well written. He later became a Post Master in Colorado Springs, Co. Jacob met his wife-to-be in Colorado Springs, CO while she was working in a local hospital as a nurse. She received her training in Chicago, IL at the College of Nurses and graduated in 1901. She then moved to Colorado Springs to practice. Her name was Jane Gauld, a second generation Scotch-Irish born in Brigdon, Ontario, Canada. Jacob was caught up in the Florida real estate boom at one time. He moved his family around a great deal in Florida and then to Indianapolis, IN. Jane told Jacob she would not move anymore and stayed in Indianapolis. Her comment to him was, "This is where I and the children stay!" He soon moved on by himself, meandering on out west again. He returned to Indianapolis to see his family from time to time but never stayed. During his Florida real estate days he had his name changed from Buzzard to Busard. He had wearied of the constant jokes from people pronouncing the name like the bird "buzzard" instead of "Bu-ZARD". Jacob's last visit to see his family in Indianapolis was in 1939 as he passed away in 1939 while living out west. Rev. 6-1995
