Sarah was the daughter of Jacob and Barbara (Swartz) Hiestand. She married William H. Buzzard September 20, 1857. To this union were born 6 children - Barbara Ellen, Sylvester William, Samuel H., Mary Elizabeth, Jacob and Emma. Mary Elizabeth and Emma both preceded her in death.

When she was buried in this cemetery it was called Stone Church Cemetery.

An infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth was born 9/15/1870 and passed away on 6/2/1872. The following is a newspaper obituary but no information on Find-a-Grave can be found.

On the 2nd of June in Elm Grove, Louisa County, Iowa of inflammation of the brain and bowels, Elizabeth, daughter of William and Sarah Buzzard 1 year, 8 months and 18 days. She suffered 6 days when it pleased God to take her to himself. (b. 9/15/1870, d. 6/2/1872).

NOTE: Since this was first posted, a memorial has been established for Sam Buzzard. This blurb does give a little information not found on his memorial.

A son, Samuel Henry Buzzard was born June 20, 1863 in Northampton, Pennsylvania and died November 26, 1946 in McAllen, Texas. His first wife, Laura, preceded him in death. After Laura's death he married Maud Keas of Salina and she also preceded him death. Samuel was a mail carrier. No information can be found on Find-a-Grave for him or either of his wives.
