Mr. Gus Benjamin Bynum, 73, of Rt. 3 Magee, died March 13 at Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall. The Simpson County native was a member of Kennedy Springs Baptist Church and was a farmer.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. March 14 at Kennedy Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Morris and Rev. John L. Jones officiating. Mims Mitchell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements, and burial was at Kennedy Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie Bynum, Magee; two sons, Gus Bynum, Jackson; Wayne Bynum, Magee; one daughter, Mrs. Rachel Freeman, Star; five brothers, Claibourn [sic] Bynum, Walter Bynum, and Vardaman [sic] Stewart, all of Magee; Floyd Bynum and Lester Stewart, both of Mendenhall; five sisters, Mrs. Janice B. Abernathy, Weathersby; Mrs. Mary Lee Bullock and Mrs. Bessie Reed, both of Jackson; Mrs. Wilma Kennedy, Puckett; Mrs. Anna Lois Lane, South Carolina; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Note: I feel these are his parents that I have linked. Only found 1900 census for Gus where wife is listed as Ica B Binum. Gus dies in Nov 1908. Then in 1920 found census where Leni J Stewart has remarried and there are step children with the four children of Gus.
