Jeanne Braithwaite Finlinson, age 53, died August 16, 1997, of a heart attack while hiking and looking at the wildflowers that she so loved in the Albion Basin, Alta, Utah.

She was born in Payson, Utah, on June 29, 1944, to Robert Carlyle and Ethylene Braithwaite. She married Fred Wheeler Finlinson on June 13, 1967, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Jeanne attended Libby Edwards Elementary, Evergreen Junior High and graduated from Olympus High School. She attended the University of Utah and graduated with a degree in education. She taught at Cottonwood Elementary in Holladay until she started raising her family. Jeanne was an active member of the LDS Church and served the Lord in a large variety of callings. She also gave valuable service to the community. She was active in the PTA, made many dance costumes for Murray Community Dance, and worked at a Headstart Development Preschool helping disabled children.

Jeanne's love was her family. She was the perfect mother who loved to "mug" (hug and kiss) her children and was looking forward to bonding with her new grandchild. She was a true companion to her husband as they shared in all of the trials and joys of life. She became friends with all she came in contact with. She was the best friend of her husband and each of her children. She was a willing listening post, and took the time to care and nurture. Jeanne had an artistic talent and a charitable heart that helped her turn everything she touched into something beautiful. She loved to be outdoors, whether it was near the snowy peaks of the Wasatch mountains, or in the sun-baked red cliffs of Lake Powell. Her favorite place, however, was at the Sunday family dinner table, surrounded by those she loved.

She is survived by her loving family: her husband, Fred; and her children, Scott (Carrie Carlston), Michelle, Laurie Ann (Blaine) Jensen, Jami, and Robert; grandchild, Lauren Jane; her mother, Ethylene; sisters, Carol (Rolf) Jonson, and Gail (Keith) Howick; and wonderful nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Robert Carlyle, and her brothers, Glenn and Alden.

A viewing will be held at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah, on Tuesday, August 19, 1997, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 20, 1997, at 12 noon in the Little Cottonwood Stake Center, 6180 So. Glenoaks (855 East), Murray, Utah. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Murray City Cemetery.
