Edward Livingston Waddell was born in Waynesboro on February 7, 1840. He enlisted on April 17, 1861 at Staunton as Pvt. in Co. L, 5th Virginia Infantry. Edward was promoted to Sgt. on November 1, 1861 and to Jr. 2nd Lieut. on June 9, 1863. He was wounded on May 12, 1864 and again on Sept. 19, 1864. After the Civil War, Edward was a druggist in Saint Louis. He returned to Lexington around 1910. Edward died on January 1, 1914.
