HARRY BUFORD EZELL was the youngest of 11 children born to Henry Clay Ezell and Palmyra "Pallie" Wilkerson. His father was the owner of Mill Creek Stock Farm on Ezell Road and Ezell Pike in Nashville, where the family home was also located. Before Harry was 2 years old, he and his older siblings were orphans. They were raised by their mother's Wilkerson siblings.

Harry married Mary Irene Jackson in 1918. Irene was the oldest daughter of Samuel Tilden Jackson and Lena Evans. Harry and Irene had 4 children:
a son and a daughter who both died shortly after birth, and daughter Martha and son James.
Irene died of TB in 1928.

Harry was a horse trainer. After the death of his wife, Harry lived in Hibbing, Minnesota for a few years, training horses for the Hibbing Raceway. He returned to Nashville shortly before his death from a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 41.

He is buried here with his wife and their two infants.

Harry's grandparents were:
Gregor MacGregor Ezell and Rosanna Baker
Benjamin Franklin Wilkerson and Mary Ann Elizabeth Sanders
