MULLINS: Mr. Winston "Buck" Buffkin, 75, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Marion County Medical Center after an extended illness.

He was born in Horry County, South Carolina, the son of the late Carlie and Neva Buffkin.

Mr. Buffkin was a retired insurance salesman, and operated Mullins Grill for many years. He attended Mullins First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class. Mr. Buffkin was a veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Rosemary Stanton Buffkin; three sons, Gregory Leigh Buffkin, Johnny Dupree George Jr., formerly of Dallas, and Ricky Dale Buffkin of Mullins; two daughters, Gayle Godbold Pitts and her husband, Doug, of Camden and Carla Jean Owens and her husband, Joe, of Mullins; two sisters, Winifred Barnhill of Mullins and Beatrice Watts and her husband, Maxey, of Tabor City, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 from the Mullins Chapel of Meares Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens, Mullins. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008, at the funeral home.
