The Matthews family was seated around the kitchen table having dinner. Mazel, who was seated in her highchair, had finished eating and began kicking her feet and was attempting to climb out of the chair. One of her feet pushed against the table and caused the highchair to fall backwards. Mazel struck the back of her head on the stove and died of the resulting injuries.
