Beatrice Evelyn Cope Gaylor, 99, died at 1 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at Milner Community Health Care.

She was born Nov. 30, 1909, in Indianola, Ill., and was the daughter of the late Elihu and Grace Davis Cope. She moved to Rossville Dec. 28, 1928.

She married Glen Gaylor May 24, 1930. He died Jan. 8, 1988.

Mrs. Gaylor was a homemaker and a member of the Rossville Methodist Church since 1930. She held office in the former Women's Society of Christian Service for several years.

Surviving are three sons, Ronald E. Gaylor (wife: Janet) and Merrill D. Gaylor (wife: Pat), both of Rossville, and S. Dean Gaylor (wife: Martha) of Linden; three half sisters; Eva Hubbard of Indianola, Ill., Inez Wheeler of Attica, Donna Cooper of Tilton, Ill.; and two half brothers, Danny Cope of Westville, Ill., and Darrell Cope of Fairmont, Ill.

Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Cope, Delphi and David E. Cope, Dugger; two sisters, Susan Margarette Cope and Wanda Irene Cope, Indianola, Ill.; two half brothers; Allen and Larry Dean Cope, Fairmount, Ill.She came to Rossville with her father, Elihu, and brother, Wayne. The men were employed in the bridge building business.

Friends may call one hour prior to funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday March 1, 2009, at Bodine Funeral Home, Rossville, the Rev. Amos McGinnis officiating. Interment Rossville Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the Rossville United Methodist Church after the interment.
