Manning special Carroll Daily Herald) - Funeral services for Mrs. Sophia Ewoldt, 77, will be held in the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning Tuesday, February 25, 1936, at 1 o'clock, with Rev. Johann M. Ansorge, pastor officiating.
Mrs. Ewoldt was born in Germany, January 7, 1859, and passed away at the home of a niece, Mrs. John Vinke in Manning, Saturday, February 22. Mrs. Ewoldt is a pioneer of this territory, having lived in this vicinity for the past 60 years. The early part of her married life was spent on a farm in Crawford County, near Manning. About 30 years ago the family moved to Manning, purchasing a home on Center Street. Here Mrs. Ewoldt lived until about six months ago, when she made her home with Mrs. Vinke.
Mrs. Ewoldt was the mother of 10 children. Her husband, Henry Ewoldt, preceded her in death, passing away in 1925.
Later, two children, William and, Hilma, Mrs. Adrian Mitchel, passed away.
The following survive: Julius, Manilla; Henry, Emil and Hugo, Manning; Rudolph, Manilla; Olga, Mrs. Herman Schrum, Bradley, South Dakota; Marfa, Mrs. Lawrence Claussen, Aspinwall; Serena, Mrs. Bud Bolling, Green Bay, Wisconsin.
There are 25 grandchildren.
