NOAH STEFFEN DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Noah Steffen, 43, 603 South Main street, owner of the Steffen Home Appliance store on North Main street, died at 3 a.m. today at the Clinic hospital, following an illness of two months. Death was due to complications following a gall bladder operation.
Mr. Steffen was born April 28, 1905, in Adams county, a son of Enoch and Julia Shuhurh Steffen. His marriage to Aldula Schwartz took place Feb. 25, 1928, at Decatur. He and his family moved from Adams county to Wells county in 1930. He began operation in 1936 of the Bluffton Rubber works, which he continued until 1946 when he sold it to open the Steffen Home Appliance on North Main street.
Surviving are the widow; the stepmother, formerly Frances Gerber, of Bluffton; two daughters and a son, Wava, Carolyn and Lester, all at home; two brothers, Daniel Steffen of Bluffton, and Obed Steffen, route 4, and two sisters, Mrs. Adam Manz, of Paulding, O., and Miss Elizabeth Steffen, of Bluffton. Three brothers and sisters are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 o’clock at the house and at 1:30 at the Apostolic Christian church, of which Mr. Steffen was a member, in charge of Rev. Samuel Aeschliman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be taken this evening from the Jahn funeral home to the residence, where friends may call after 7 o’clock.
