Mrs. Margaret Smith
On Monday, Nov. 14, at 8:25 p.m. the Death Angel entered the home of R. Esquival and bore from loved ones the beloved mother, Mrs. Margaret M. Smith, died after a prolonged illness. Mrs. Smith was sick only a week, and seriously only about three days. She had suffered for years with asthma, and heart trouble, and when pneumonia developed she rapidly failed.
She was born Aug. 2, 1855, Columbus, GA. She came to Texas when a child, and had spent practically all her married life on the farm three miles north of Rockdale. There were twelve children, forty-two grandchildren, and thirty-seven great-grandchildren, who have called her blessed. The children who were present at the funeral were Mrs. Ada Esquival, Miss Wren Smith, Charlie and R. K. Smith.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. A. Craven at the Methodist church in Rockdale at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Interment was at Sandy Creek cemetery.
