Thomas E. Winstead Passes Away Oct. 18

Thomas Emmerson Wlnstead, 91, passed away October 18 in the Newton Hospital. He was living in Louin and was a member of one of Neshoba County's pioneer families and had been active in community affairs until taken with ill health. He was a deacon, school trustee and farmer.

He is survived by four sons, Earl Winstead of Kennesaw, Georgia, Carl Winstead of Union, former Congressman Arthur Winstead of Philadelphia and T. D. Wintead of Jackson; six daughters, Mrs. W. L. Winstead of Union, Mrs. E. D. Crenshaw of Enterprise, Mrs. Arnold Nelson of Mansfield, Louisiana, Mrs. H. C. Williams of Louin, Mrs. R. W. Rush of Little Rock and Mrs. Opal Winstead of Meridian; 30 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 11 great, great grandchildren.

He lived with his daughter, Mrs. H. C. Williams of Louin, for the past 20 years.

Services were held in the Pine Grove Baptist Church, Oct. 20. He was buried in the church cemetery. He was a member of that church.

Ministers officiating at the services were the Revs. Edward McKeithen and Otis Seals.

Pall bearers were his grandsons.

McClain-Hays Funeral Home of Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.

Masonic honors were given at the graveside.
