Martha Frances Henry was one of four children born to John William "Will" Henry and Julia Mora "Julie" Armstrong. She was born in Walnut, Mississippi on January 15, 1916. She was known as Frances throughout her life.

Frances had two sisters: Gracie L. Henry (Armstrong) and James Edna Henry (aka Edna Mae Henry). One sibling, whose name and gender are unknown, died in infancy.

She married Everett Branson Sides, Jr. in either Mississippi or Tennessee. The exact date of their union is unknown but it may have been sometime in 1936 or 1937 based on the birth of their daughter, Virginia Louise Sides (Hall). Virginia, who was their only child, was born on June 14, 1937 in Tennessee.

Frances died of TB in Middleton, Tennessee on April 15, 1939 at just 23 years of age. She was buried near her parents at Harmony Baptist Cemetery in Walnut, Mississippi the next day.
