John William "Will" Henry was the son of John N. Henry and Eliza Ann "Liza" Nolan. He was born on August 4, 1889 in Blue Mountain, Mississippi.

One of five children, his siblings were: James George Henry, Mary S. Henry (Nolen), Josephine Ann "Josie" Henry (Wammack), Leona Henry (Cook), and Allie E. Henry (Cook).

On December 14, 1913, Will married Julia Mora "Julie" Armstrong in Tippah County, Mississippi. Henry (Armstrong), and James Edna Henry aka Edna Mae Henry (Gary, Ferguson).
