Death Tuesday claimed Elizabeth Wieler, 76, a resident of this community for 57 years. She died in a Gainesville Hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral services with high mass of requium were held on Thursday morning at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Herman Laux officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Mrs. Nick Miller. Pallbearers were grandsons, Arthur Felderhoff and Arnold Rohmer, and four nephews, Albert, Alphonse, Bruno and John Fleitman.
Mrs. Wieler is affectionately remembered by the community as one who was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever help was needed whether in church or in the community.
She was born in Loretto, Tennessee on December 6, 1870, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Herman Hessel, and came to Muenster with them and her only sister, the late Mrs. Henry Fleitman on April 13, 1890, just a few months after the colony was established. She married William Wieler here on May 22, 1894. They were the parents of nine children. They were farmers until William died in 1915. Then she and the children moved to town.
