Eli Richard Bentley was my father. The son of Charles Jesse Bentley & Mary Irene (Owens) Bentley. He was born in Yakima, Washington. His brothers & sister are George Milton Bentley, Cornelius Preston Bentley(called Neal), Warren David Bentley, Walter Henry Bentley, William Jesse Bentley, Bonnie Regene (Bentley) Rodgers, Gerard, Edgar Bentley. Eli left home at a early age he traveled the country hopping the train supporting himself being a golf caddy. Which he was doing when he meet & married Marie Alice (Johnson) Bentley on March 16, 1941. They where married at Elis brother George Bentley house in Aberdeen, Washington where they started their life. Eli worked at the Aberdeen ship yard. To this marriage 8 children where born Judith Ellen (Bentley) Sowards, Sandra Louise (Bentley) Herman, A set of twin boys that died at birth, Sally Irene (Bentley) Davis, Susan Eileen (Bentley) Carver, (Susie & Sally are also twins) Jill Marie (Bentley) Haines, & me Penny Lorraine (Bentley) Miller. Judy, Sandy, Susan & Sally where born in Aberdeen. Jill & Penny where born in Yakima after they moved there after 1944 they lived at 1714 South 11th Avenue Yakima, Washington. While I was in Junior High School they moved to Seattle settling at their home 221 North West 203rd Seattle, Washington. In Seattle Eli worked as a tire recapper. Eli enjoyed playing cards, gardening, golfing & being with his family. In 1976 Eli was dignoised with Alzheimers diease he stayed with his wife in their Seattle home until Marie could not take care of him he went to Providence hospital in Seattle for a while then Stillicom hospital in Stillicom Washington then finally to Snohomish Chalet Nursing home Snohomish Washington where he was until he died Jan 3, 1982. He sufford with this illness for 7 yrs. He was cremated at Beck Funeral Home in Edmonds, Washington. On May 29, 1982 he was buried in Tahoma Cemetery Yakima, Washington in grave with his father & mother.
