"Leonard Bahlman, Ran Cleaning Firm
Leonard J. Bahlman, 83, who ran a cleaning and tailoring business on Capitol Hill for more than 40 years, died Sunday in the Carroll Hall Nursing home In Kensington, Md.

A native Washingtonian, Mr. Bahlman took over operation of the shop, H. Bahlman and Sons, In 1910. His father had started it during the civil War. The shop was sold in 1944 after Mr. Bahlman retired.

Mr. Bahlman, who was educated in public schools here, served with the 1st District Volunteers during the Spanish- American War and saw action in Cuba.

He was a member of the Spanish-American War Veterans and held membership with the St. James Catholic Church st West Broad and Spring streets In Falls Church. He lived at 311 Graham road, Falls Church. His wife, Mary, died in 1952.

He leaves two slaters, Miss Anna Bahlman of the District, and Mrs. Josephine Kober of Landover Hills. M., and two sons., John H. of the home address, and William S. of 5312 Reno road N.W." From the Evening Star, April 28, 1959, page 12
