JOHN H. BAHLMAN SR.
Bank Vice President
John H. Bahlman Sr., 75, a retired vice president with the First American Bank of Washington, died of congestive heart failure Dec. 9 at Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria.
Mr. Bahlman, who lived in Alexandria, was born in Washington. He graduated from St. Johns College High School and received a degree in accounting from the old Columbus University.
He joined the old Union Trust Company of Washington as a bike messenger in 1934. He worked his was up through the ranks and was a vice president when he retired in 1978 from what had become First American Bank of Washington.
He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Alexandria.
His wife, Dorthy M. Bahlman, died earlier this year. Survivors include four daughters, Gertrude A. O'Keefe of Baltimore, Joyce D. Jackson of Ashdown, Ark., M. Joan Betz of Alexandria, and E. Janet Stancil of Stafford, Va.; a son, John H. Bahlman Jr. of Wilsons, Va.; a stepson, Raymond A. Devers of Alexandria; a brother, William S. Bahlman of Silver Spring, and 12 grandchildren.
