Frank L. Ball, 80, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, February 16, 2009, at Wilson Medical Center in Neodesha, Kansas.

He was born November 12, 1928, at Neodesha, Kansas, the son of George and Nellie (Johnson) Ball.

He grew up at Neodesha and graduated from Neodesha High School.

In June of 1948, Frank married Patricia L. Knuth and they made their home in Neodesha.

Frank and Patricia had four children before their marriage ended in divorce.

On Jan. 17, 1976, Frank married Alma M. "Susie" (Yoho) Shores. Susie preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 2005.


He had been a salesman and national sales manager for lighting companies, including Lava Light and his 1st family followed his career to Indiana, Iowa, and Kansas. In 1968 they moved to Iola where Frank and his brother, Jack, owned and operated Quality Packaging for 10 years. In 1978, Frank started F&S Supply Company, a janitorial and lighting supplier, in the basement of his home. It has grown and moved to it's present location in Iola and has employed over 50 people. Frank was currently owner and president of the company.

Frank was a member of the Armordale Bible Holiness Church at Independence, Kansas, and attended the Parkview Holiness Church at Chanute, Kansas. He was also a member of NISSCO, ISSA and NAILD, all professional organizations associated with his business.

Survivors include, 4 children, Rick Ball of Pensacola, Fl, Randy Ball & companion, Elaine of Iola, KS, Linda Berry & husband, Jim of St. Louis, MO, and Ryan Ball & wife, Rhonda of Conneaut, OH; 2 step-children, John Shores & companion, Carol of Iola, KS, and Debbie Logan & husband, Frank of Gas, KS; 1 sister, Neama Douglas of Iola, KS; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and friend & caretaker, Loree Oliver of Gage, OK.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Ball, and by two brothers, Ernie and Jack Ball.

Funeral services will be Feb. 23, 2009, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, Kansas. The Rev. Kevin Weinand and Rev. Tom Davolt will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Iola, KS

Memorial gifts suggested to Independence Bible School, and may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, KS, which is in charge of arrangements.
