Julia Barber was the daughter of William Reed Barber from Mendham Suffolk, England and Elizabeth Beecroft Barber from Bungay Suffolk, England. On February 24, 1868 she married Peter Lessor. They moved to Kansas in 1879, living in Cloud County. In the spring of 1887 they moved to Lincoln County and settled on a farm eight miles northwest of Lincoln. She was the mother of seven children: Delia, Charlotte (Lottie), Charles William, Peter, Lucien (Bing), Mattie and Agnes. She passed away at the age of 75 years.
