Samuel Ingram and his wife, Jane, settled in Bastrop County in 1858. Samuel's first wife was Amelia Lane Tucker. She died on Dec. 4 1849 in Pike County Illinois.
Samuel and Jane moved there from Webberville, in Travis County, where Samuel had farmed since the mid-1850s. Prior to 1855, little is known about the couple, except that they married in Pike County, Illinois in 1852. Both of them had family in Illinois, and Jane Ingram had lived there all her life. Both Samuel and Jane had children from previous marriages; Samuel had three sons and a daughter and Jane had four sons and a daughter.
