Forest City
Mrs. Thomas Casey of Forest Prairie died quite suddenly Saturday night having been sick but a day or two. On account of the severe storm prevailing it was impossible for a physician to be procured before she died Saturday evening. Frank Segar who was chopping wood near Mr. Casey's place made a plucky effort to secure a doctor, starting on horseback and proceeding a little distance south of town when he found it impossible to go farther and started for Litchfield on foot, where he arrived during the night. But the woman died while he was gone and before medical aid could be procured. Frank should have the credit of making an effort that few boys of his age would have undertaken on such a night. He was entirely exhausted when he reached Litchfield. He is a son of Henry Segar living near Litchfield.
