Lucretia Halstead was the daughter of Joel Halstead & Sarah Gaffield. She married to James Williamson, a Welshman who was a glassblower in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, by whom she had one son Joel. Following her husbands untimely death she and her son moved home to her fathers. She re-married to John Stilwell, by whom she had another son John JR. After moving from New York to Canada, she moved with her family to North Dakota, and lived near Dresden. The town of Stilwell was founded and named for her, on the Williamson & Radford farms north and east of Langdon. She died in 1898.
