Funeral services for Mrs. W. L. Dark, 75, of Gaars Mill, who died at the Baptist Hospital, Alexandria, Thursday, April 29, 1948, at 4 a.m., where she underwent an operation three and a half weeks ago, will be held at the Harmony Grove Baptist Church of which the deceased was a member, Friday afternoon, at 3 o'clock.

The mother of 13 children, Mrs. Dark was born and reared in the Gaars Mill Community. Before her marriage, she was Miss Melissa Faith, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Zachary Faith, pioneer residents of this section. Mr. and Mrs. Dark reared their family here where they took a leading part in the civic, educational, and religious life of the community and parish, Mr. Dark having represented his ward for many years as police juror, and the parish as president of the group. They would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary this year.

Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Mrs. R. A. Clewis, Winnfield; Mrs. D. E. Sikes, Columbia; Mrs. Roy Sanders, Readhimer; seven sons, J. E. Dark, Winnfield; DeWitt Dark, Ruston; Ross Dark, Columbia; Shelby Dark, Gaars Mill; Woodrow Dark, Wyatt; and Z. T. Dark, Gaars Mill. She was also the mother of the late Clarence Dark, well known Winnfield resident.

Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Joel Smith, Dodson; Mrs. Tom Walker, Ruston; Miss Zettie Faith, Alexandria; and one brother, J. W. Faith, Dodson.
