Fergeson
HOUSTON—A graveside service for Ewin Edwin Fergeson, 87, was held at Houston National Cemetery with Rev. Doug Springer of Rockdale officiating.
Mr. Fergeson died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, in Tomball. He was born March 23, 1921, in Rockdale.
Mr. Fergeson began school in Rockdale and moved to Houston in 1927. He graduated from Milby High School in 1939.
Mr. Fergeson was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving from 1942 to 1945.
He married on Feb. 11, 1945, and they were 10 days shy of celebrating 64 years of marriage.
Mr. Fergeson worked as a butcher, general contractor, draftsman, building expediter and was owner and operator of Lakewood Paint Supply.
He had a heart for missions and teaching the word of God. Over the years, he taught Bible classes at Lakewood Church in Houston, Lake Point Resort in Canyon Lake and on mission fields of Mexico and Guatemala. Mr. Fergeson also taught at a Bible seminary in the Philippines and, until his illness, he taught a Bible class at the retirement community where he lived.
Mr. Fergeson was preceded in death by his father, Ewin Edwin Fergeson Sr., and his mother, Minnie Mae Hamilton Fergeson, both of Rockdale; a great-grandson, Adam Fleener; and a great-granddaughter, Destaney Fergeson.
Survivors are his wife; four children and their spouses; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren and one more on the way.
