JOHN COBB OBITUARY
John S. Cobb, 71, Clinton, TN, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2001 at Mariner Health Care Center, Norris, TN. Born May 3, 1930 in Whitley Co., son of the late Andrew and Maude Gilbert Cobb. He was a member of Clinton Baptist Church for forty-three years. He was a former Deacon, trustee and general secretary of the Sunday school. He was a retired mechanical engineer for the Y-12 Plant, Oak Ridge, TN. He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Elizabeth Edwards Cobb, Clinton, TN; daughters, Beth Sliski, Clinton, Connie Cobb Salter and her husband, Teddy, Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Johnathan Sliski, Clinton and Abby and Betsy Salter, Virginia Beach, VA; brothers, Bill Cobb, Corbin, KY, Jimmy Cobb and his wife, Fredina, Corbin; sisters, Jennette Pennington and her husband, John, Corbin and Rosetta Bowers and her husband, Kenneth, Dayton, OH; brother-in-law, Eddie Edwards and his wife, Pat, Cincinnati, OH; sister-in-law, Martha Farris and her husband, David, Nicholasville, KY; special niece, Sondra Davis and her husband, Earl, Clinton, TN and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Cobb; sister, Mahala Johnson and Maggie Johnson. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. today at Clinton First Baptist Church, Clinton, TN. Funeral service 8 p.m. at the church with Rev. Sam Dean, Rev. David Hanes and Dr. Paul Frick officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Wednesday at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Clinton, TN. Memorials may be made to the Family Life Center Bldg. Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, PO Box 268, Clinton, TN, 37717. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
