Charlotte Deborah Kidder was raised in the large colonial brick house built by Ezra and Calista Kidder that still stands south of the rural intersection of Forest Road and Camp Brook Road at Mill Hollow, west of East Alstead, NH.

Like two of her sisters, she moved west to East DuPage, (now Lisle Illinois) around 1837. She married James Crombie Hatch, one of three brothers who grew up at 372 Hill Rd at Alstead Center. Her younger sister, Laura Kidder, married Luther A. Hatch in 1838. Sister, Dulcenea Abbey Kidder, married Luther and James' brother, Leonard K. Hatch, in 1838.

The Hatch brothers pioneered their ways west to the Chicago's Ft Dearborn area in the early 1830's.
