Maxine Griner Lee, 62 of Jesup, formerly of Hortense, died early Friday (June 30, 2006) morning in the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup after a long illness.

The Pierce County native was the daughter of Jay Hugh and Mary Lou Sloan Griner. A member of the Flint Branch Baptist Church in Jesup, she was a homemaker and loved her family and church family.

Her husband, Robert Lamar Lee; two grandsons, Jerry Lamar Landon and James Lamar Landon; a brother, James Edward Taylor; and her sisters, Rosezella Highsmith, Marene Griner, Rosalee Knight and Jezelou Pierce, preceded her in death.

Survivors are her four children, Jerry Landon, Diane Bunch (Joseph), Tony Landon, all of Jesup, and Robert Landon (Edna), of Clarksville, Tenn., 15 grandchildren, Sabrina Stevens, Danielle Stevens, Edward Landon, Brad Landon, Ashley Landon, Selena Landon, Nicholas Landon, Dylan Landon, Robert Landon, Joanna Landon, Tabitha Landon, Angie Landon, Kayla Landon, Peyton Landon and Shelby Landon; three great-grandchildren, Haley Stevens, Ashwyn Beepath and Nathan Stevens; a brother, Ward Griner (Sandy), of Orlando, Fla., her sister, Mildred Anderson (Joe English), of Hortense; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be Sunday evening starting at 6 at the Chambless-Frye Funeral Home.

Funeral will be Monday morning at 11, July 3, 2006, at the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Bush and the Rev. Tommy Kelly officiating.

Burial will follow in the family plot at Hortense Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Davon Beepath, Darrell Beasley, Floyd Holt, Larry Knight, Gerald Schultz and Chris Bush.
