Jesse Lee Nichols, 73, born 15 Mar 1902, of Route 2 Nahunta, passed away late Sunday morning, 2 Nov 1975, in a Jesup nursing home, following a long illness.

A native of Camden County, he had lived in Brantley County most of his life. He had lived in the Hortense area many years before moving to Nahunta.

A son of the late Robert C. Nichols, Sr. and Mary Ellen Arnett Nichols, he was a member of Nahunta Church of God. He had been engaged in farming until ill health forced his retirement.

Survivors are his wife, Lula Clark Nichols of Nahunta; a daughter, Mary Ellen Broughton of Waynesville; three sons, Vernon Nichols and David Nichols, both of Nahunta and Jesse Vinson "J.V." Nichols of Jesup; two sisters, Grace Morgan and Lettie Crews, both of Fernandina Beach, FL; three brothers, Robert C. Nichols, James P. Nichols, and John B. Nichols, all of Hortense; 13 grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Nahunta Church of God with Rev. Harold Edenfield and Rev. Lester Edgy officiating.

Interment was in Hortense Cemetery.

Pallbearers were men of the church.

Clough-Pearson Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge of arrangements.
