Sarah was the second child of John Scudder Hart and Jemima Slagle. She married William Vanscoy on November 15, 1836, Randolph Co., VA. They had seven children; Emmett Buckey, Jacob See, Jemima Jane, Elizabeth Margaret, Martha, William Stephen, and Elam P.
