In 1841 she was married to Andrew Bakke in Norway. They immigrated to America @1844 first settling in or near Stoughton, Dane Co., WI before moving to Stevens County, MN in 1879.

In January, 1881, some members of her family traveled on foot to Ft. Sisseton and the town of Roslyn, in what is now Day County, SD, a distance of over 100 miles with Stevens Co. friends and neighbors, the Hanse brothers, Ole, Martin and Hans Hanse. The two families filed homestead claims on June 15, 1881 and developed Liberty Township.

By 1900 Aase was a widow and living with her daughter, Ingeborg and her son-in-law, Ole Hanse in Roslyn, Day Co., SD. She passed away in 1912 at the age of 94 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Bakke and at least three of her children passed away sometime before 1900.
