Cooper Hilley, 58, of Route Three, Hartwell, died Tuesday night in the Abbeville Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health for one year and critically ill for about two days.

He was a native of Elbert County, a son of the late Henry and Maggie Jones Hilley, and a textile worker by occupation.

His wife, Ruth Elizabeth Waters Hilley, died several years ago.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs J B Bridges of Route Three Hartwell and Mrs Douglas Partridge, Allison Air Force Base, Alaska; two sons, James C Hilley of Calhoun Falls, SC and Rayford Hilley of Middleton, Ga. Four sisters Mrs Jimmie Hall of Greenwood, SC, Mrs Carl Gillespie of Anderson, SC, Mrs Tom Fleming of Chauncey, Ga., and Mrs Lillie Dixon, of Middleton. Three Brothers, Bedford Hilley, Carey Hilley of Middleton and Weymon Hilley of Calhoun Falls; 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services were to be held from the Lowndesville, SC Methodist Church. The Rev. Henry Eddlemahn and the Rev Joseph Ouzts, will officiate. Burial will be in the Smyrna cemetery near Lowndesville.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers; Herman Hall, David C Hilley, Eugene Lawton, Roger Waters and Lemuel Hilley.
