MRS. D.E. ALLMON DIES AT AGE OF 83

End Comes to Georgiana Woman at Daughter’s Home in Dallas, Texas

Following is an account in part of the death of Mrs. Dora Evans Allmon which was published in a Texas paper:

“Mrs. Dora Evans Allmon died May 23 in Dallas, Texas at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stella Carswell, with whom she had made her home for the past two years. Her death was not altogether unexpected as she had been a patient sufferer for several years. She had lived a long and useful life being 82 years of age at the time of her death.

“Her remains, accompanied by Mrs. Carswell and son, Winson Carswell, were brought to Georgiana for interment. Funeral services were held at the residence of Dr. and Mrs. J.C. Watson, Sunday morning May 31 at 10 o’clock. Rev. R.S. New officiating. Interment was in the family lot in Oakwood cemetery.

Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Evans of Ft. Deposit, Ala. After having completed her education at a leading college she was married in early womanhood to Dr. J.E. Allmon, thus uniting two of the South’s most aristocratic families. Soon afterward she came to Georgiana to make her home in the pioneer days of Butler county and until recently resided here. Her husband and two sons, Drs. Rollo B., and Rinaldo, preceded her to the great beyond. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Stella Carswell of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. O.H. Warren of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
“She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Episcopal church.”
