The accident report and obituary is as follows:
Curtis Schreurs, 10, Larchwood, died Sunday following a farm accident near his home. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arlyn Schreurs. According to Sheriff Luraine Smith, the accident happened about 3:15 p.m., two miles west and one and three quarters north of the West Lyon Community School. According to the reports the brothers (Gerald, John, and Curtis)were in a tractor going north on the gravel road. It is thought that the tractor got on the shoulder of the road, which was soft, and it rolled over into the ditch. Gerald and Curtis were both pinned in the tractor, but John freed himself and ran to a neighbor for help.

The tractor was lifted and the boys were removed from underneath by the time the Larchwood Emergency Medical Service arrived. Sheriff Smith, State Trooper Paul Biedermann, the Lyon County ambulance crew arrived only minutes later. Curtis was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner. Gerald was then taken to McKennan hospital by LEMS, where he was treated for leg injuries and released.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at St, Mary's Catholic Church, Larchwood, with Fr. Edmond Adams officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Curtis was born August 17, 1971, in Sioux Falls and was presently enrolled at West Lyon Community School in the third grade. Survivors include his parents, Arlyn and Clarice Schreurs; five brothers, Joel, Ellery, Anthony, John, and Gerald all at home; two sisters, Mrs. Craig (Susan) Olson, Inwood, and Sarah at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Schreurs, Larchwood, and Mrs. Jennie Oliver, Canton, SD.
