He came to Kansas in 1869 and for about 50 years had lived on the farm where he passed away.
On May 7, 1878 he was united in marriage to Mary M. McAllister in Johnson County, Kansas. To this union were born two children, William E. Savage of De Soto, and Minnie, now Mrs. John Crane of Olathe. Mrs. Savage died September 20, 1884. Burial was in Olathe Cemetery.
On March 16, 1887, he was united in marriage Miss Jennie Matthews in Douglas County, Kansas. To this union was born one son who died in infancy. Mrs. Savage died September 20, 1896. Burial was in the De Soto Cemetery, with infant's stone beside her.
On November 29, 1899 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Edna A. (Smith) Jewett in Johnson County, Kansas. One son, Howard E. Savage, now of Amarillo, Texas, was born to this marriage. Mrs. Savage preceded him in death on October 30, 1925, with burial in the De Soto Cemetery.
He is survived by two sons and one daughter, two step-daughters, Mrs. J.W. Austill, Lawrence, Kans., and Miss Emma Jewett of the home; also three brothers, Edson, Charles and John Savage; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Clark and Mrs. Ida Neely, one half brother, Loren Savage and one half sister, Mrs. Nina Tawney, besides thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In young manhood he united with the Methodist Church and held his membership in the Bethel church at the time of his death.
Burial was in the Olathe Cemetery beside Mary McAllister Savage, his first wife.
