Julius Acker

COOPER — Julius Acker, 79, of Cooper, died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in a Commerce hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Cooper, with the Rev. Richard Tatum officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cooper. Delta Funeral Home of Cooper is in charge.

Mr. Acker was born Jan. 19, 1897 in Grand Saline, a son of the late Lecil B. Acker and Lula Mae (Waldrip) Acker. Mr. Acker, a retired brick mason, married Annie Mae Young on Jan. 12, 1916. She proceeded him in death Jan. 8,1964. He had lived in Delta County most of his life.

Survivors include four sons: Ray Acker of Grand Prairie, J.B. Acker of Pasadena, Tex., Noble Acker, of Arlington and Julius Acker Jr. of Columbus, Miss. A son, Doyle Acker, preceeded him in death. Other survivors are four daughters: Mrs. Julia Mae Schultz of Pasadena, Tex., Mrs. Freda N. Gillean of Fort Worth, Mrs. Ruby D. Kuney of Midwest City, Okla. and Mrs. Mary Acker Grayson of Cooper; 36 grandchildren; six step- grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons wilt be pallbearers.
