He was called by his middle name Brunson was blind and attended a school for the blind, where he met his wife Mildred Worthy.
He ran a newspaper stand for many years in the Wade Hampton Building in Columbia, SC. His death was unexpected, he died several hours after suffering a myocardial infarction.
Brunson was preceeded in death by his parents, two infant sisters, Stella Eugenia and Mary Alice and a brother Emmett Griser in 1942. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; a brother, John Millen Griser of Mobile, Alabama and three sisters, Mary Griser Campbell, Houston, Texas, Marie Griser Cordray, Charleston, SC and Geraldine Griser Kanapaux of Charleston and Brooklyn, New York and 10 nieces & nephews.
