Omer Wilson Sutton, 91, of Matthews, MO, died at 10 a.m. Dec. 7, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born May 19, 1912, in Miner to the late Marcus H. and Ella Green Sutton, he was employed in farming.
His wife of 63 years, Elsie Pauline Rushing, survives of the home. The couple was married Oct. 2, 1937, at Matthews.
Other survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe Sutton and Greg and Jane Sutton; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bill Hannan; one grandson, whom they raised and his wife, John and Tonya Powell; and five other grandchildren, Brian Hannan, Terry Welch, Lathem Scott; and Ashley Sutton and Aaron Sutton; and three great-grandchildren, Kasey Powell, Jonathan Powell and Hannah Scott.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Meta Faye Powell, who died Sept. 18, 1997; six brothers and two sisters.
Visitation was at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel where services will be. The Rev. Donald Heitman, pastor of the Matthews Nazarene Church, officiated.
Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers were: Gary Bixler, Wayne Welch, Paul Reed, Greg Thompson, Tony Hampton and Stephen Barbre.
Honorary pallbearers were: Robert Sutton and Jim Sutton.
