Henry J. Beutler, 72, of Salem died Tuesday in Salem.

He was born in the Pratum area. He lived on the farm that he worked on all of his life, He also served as lay minister for seven years at Nida Ros Community Church near Monitor. He retired in 1977.

He married Elsie Roth on June 16, 1943, in Pratum. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and Bible study. He was a member of the Emmanuel Bible Church and the Willamette Historical Auto Club and Chevrolet Club.

Survivors include his wife;, sons, Neil, Paul, and Henry Jr., all of Salem, Ralph of Hay Springs, Neb., and Mark of Tigard; daughters, Ruth Nelson of Portland and Beth Lang of Tigard; sisters, Gretchen Beutler of Portland and Lillian Beutler of New York City; and 13 grandchildren.

Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday in Emmanuel Bible Church in Pratum. Private family interment will be in Pratum Cemetery. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen mortuary, Salem.

Contributions may be made to the church or the Union Gospel Mission.
